Ok, happy, ugh….
I just don’t get it, but anywho…
I have two classes left of school.
No really, just two, and this is just for my minor, which of course means I have forgotten almost everything I was learning for my BS, but this is the American university system showing exactly why it doesn’t work.
But this is a new year, an I want to get some things accomplished. First I need to blow the crud out of the fireplace as we have been kind of abusing out supply of the really dirty/creates tons of heat stuff in the last few days.
I was trying to take advantage of some clear skies as well and take some photos of various objects in the night sky, but clear skies also equate to cold weather and trying to take photos when it is well below zero is less than fun. Especially long exposure photos.
I did get a couple…
This is looking towards Polaris, The cigar galaxy (M82), Bode’s Nebula (M81) and the little galaxy ngc 3077.
These are the three “stars” that make up the scabbard of Orion, the middle star is actually a galactic star factory made up of many young stars and gassy nebulousness. The large area is M42, the little reddish ball just above it is M43.
I intent to go out and get some more pictures as the weeks drag on, but it will depend on the weather. If it was clear and 40 degrees I could stay out all night. However, clear, breezy, and 10 below with a -30 windchill is neither good for my fingers of my equipment. I have lost entire nights of photos because it was too cold to focus the camera.
I am thinking of getting an actual telescope, right now I am working off of a DSLR with a large lens. However if I got a larger camera I may also need to look at a new aiming setup.
Oh well, I think in a perfect world I would have a tiny house with an observatory on the roof. Maybe once I get my butt out of school I can start working on that.
